The Golden Apple
When Eris, the god of disagreement was the only god that wasn't invited to the wedding, she got so upset that she wanted to cause trouble. She threw a golden apple marked "to the fairest" into the wedding and when three Olympian goddess had claimed it, they went to Zeus to decide which would have it. Since he did not want to decide amongst them, he sent them to Paris of Troy. Paris then listened to each of their bribes, but in the end, choose Aphrodite. She got the golden apple, while Paris got Helen the most beautiful girl in the world.
When he got Helen
Helen was already married to the king of Sparta, and when Aphrodite made her fall in love with Paris, she gave herself to him. Once the king found out the she was kidnapped, he called all of Sparta to help get her back from Paris. This created the Trojan War.
The Trojan war was a long battle between both Paris, prince of Troy and the King of Sparta for Helen. Aphrodite helped pairs along the way because himself and Helen were really in love and it was natural for her help them.
